Abbott Chicago 5K One Mile Walk

Register for the Abbott Chicago 5K One Mile Walk on Saturday, October 7! This scenic walk through downtown Chicago gives everyone a chance to experience the excitement of Bank of America Chicago Marathon weekend and see the city in a whole new way.

Registration for the Abbott Chicago 5K One Mile Walk is free. Registration will close when the race capacity has been met.

Participants will receive a commemorative knit hat and all finishers will receive a medal.

Start line: Columbus Drive (between Jackson Drive and Ida B. Wells Drive)
Finish line: Wacker Drive and Jackson Boulevard

Start corrals open: 6:30 a.m.
Wheelchair start: 7:25 a.m.
Race and walk start: 7:30 a.m.
Finish line closes: 9 a.m.

EVENT BIB NUMBERS

Abbott Chicago 5K One Mile Walk participants must pick up their bib number and commemorative item at the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo. The Health & Fitness Expo is held at Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center (2301 S. Martin Luther King Dr.). Packet Pick-up will take place on Thursday, October 5 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, October 6 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.


TRANSPORTATION

Public transportation is highly recommended for race day transportation. For more information on public transportation options visit the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) website at transitchicago.com or Metra at metra.com.


PARKING – GRANT PARK SOUTH GARAGE

If you are driving into the city for the race, we encourage you to pre-purchase your parking at a discounted rate by going to millenniumgarages.com/rates. Be sure to allow extra time due to street closures and detours due to the event and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 8. COURSE

The Abbott Chicago 5K One Mile Walk course will weave through downtown taking walkers past iconic Chicago landmarks.

Starting in Grant Park, the route will follow the first mile of the 5K run taking walkers across the loop and along the Chicago River before finishing near the 5K finish line, in the shadow of the Willis Tower.

GEAR CHECK

Gear check will not be available at the Abbott Chicago 5K One Mile Walk. Do not store, hide or leave any personal items along or near the race course, including the start and finish line areas. You are responsible for safely storing your gear offsite prior to the race. Any items left unattended will be removed from the area and will not be made available later.
